Uryadi’s Village has been working for 10 years now to provide crucial, life-saving care for the vulnerable and orphaned children of rural Ethiopia. And over the years, time and time again, we have found very special people who not only choose to get involved with this work by sponsoring or donating, but go above and beyond by coming up with their own unique and special ways to support our work.
Wendi McKenna is one such person. Wendi is a Physical Therapist who has been involved with UV for 5 years now. She is an incredibly compassionate person, who’s love for this project and the children we serve shines through in all of her involvement. Wendi sponsors two of our children, and has spent time at the village, working firsthand to help improve the care and therapy that our children benefit from. She is a warm, wonderful, loving person and we are so thankful for her passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to being such an important part of our global village.
Wendi is also someone who has found a truly fun and unique way to help fundraise for the village, and we are so excited to cheer her on in this endeavor. On August 22 & 23, Wendi will be climbing the vertical equivalent of MT EVEREST!!! She will be completing 8 summits of Whistler Mountain, in British Columbia, which equates to the 29,029 feet of summiting Mt Everest!! This is an awesome goal for anyone to set for themselves, and we are profoundly grateful that Wendi has decided she wants to use this event to benefit the children of Uryadi’s Village. The fundraising goal amount is $18,000, which will be used to help improve accessibility for all of our children through creating pathways that are easy to navigate with a wheelchair. It's so important that every child be able to access ALL of the village, and Wendi has chosen to make this her fundraising goal for this exciting event.
The simplest way to donate is to use either the suggested amounts, all of which are multiples of 8 ($24, $40, $80, $96, etc.) OR come up with your own amount and input that in the empty box.
Thank you so much for your support, and for choosing to be part of making a positive change in the world. It truly does make a difference.
Wheelchair accessible paths throughout the village are so important - mobility matters!
